Every Friday throughout September and October I’ll be adding new songs to my Fat Witch Fall playlist on Spotify – Today I’ve got 9 songs about OMENS and MAGIC and THE APOCALYPSE.

Check out the latest episode of the podcast THE OMENS on Spotify while you’re at it!

Magick Comin’
Rorie Kelly
You’ll actually find a few of rorie’s songs on this playlist because I love them! This one is brand new and there’s a music video! Enjoy!
Visit rorie’s website here, and click here to buy the single.

Omen
Mother Mother
Lyrics to Listen For:
Something about the world today
Make a boy feel a bit insane
From daffodils to acid rain
To antichrist on a tidal wave
But that’s all right, that’s okay
I can look the other way
Upon a path of old primrose
Beyond the smoke and smoldering chrome
And the Pentagon and the fall of Rome
There lies a place I might call home
With a couple of sticks and a couple of stones
I’ll dig a pit and lay my bones

Red Right Hand
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds
Lyrics to Listen For:
The whole song, honestly. And everything else by Nick Cave because he’s the best. Start with O Children and Opium Tea. This particular song, presumably about satan, is a halloween staple and featured in every single SCREAM movie (because they rule).
You’re one microscopic cog
In his catastrophic plan
Designed and directed
By his red right hand

The Raven
The Alan Parsons Project
This entire album is a bit 80s cheesy, but super fun around halloween. This absolute CLASSIC song, The Raven, will absolutely get stuck in your head.
Lyrics to listen for:
Quoth the raven, nevermore
Nevermore
Thus quoth the raven, nevermore

Black Hole Sun Live
Chris Cornell
This acoustic version is just Chris Cornell by himself, and it’s beautiful. It’s dreamy yet ominous vibe brings up images of eclipses, the end times, and snakes.
I will forever regret not going to see him live the night he was in detroit, where he died in 2017. RIP.

Eve of Destruction
Johnny Thunders
Though New York Dolls frontman Johnny Thunders didn’t write this song, it was one of the last recorded before his death in 1991 by drugs and/or murder and was released posthumously.
Lyrics to Listen For:
And you tell me over and over and over again my friend
You don’t believe were on the eve of destruction
Well look at all the hate there is in Red China
Take a look around at Selma Alabama
You may leave here for four days in space
When you return it’s that same old place
Love your next door neighbor but don’t forget to say grace

The Man Comes Around
Johnny Cash
The coming apocalypse as told by the man in black.
Lyrics to LIsten For:
And I heard, as it were, the noise of thunder. One of the four beasts saying, “Come and see.” And I saw, and behold a white horse

Bad Moon Rising
Creedence Clearwater Revival
This song is such an undeniable classic, especially at halloween. It brings to mind end of the world omens, eclipses, werewolves, and the witching hour.

The Sign
Ace of Base
HOW COULD I RESIST?
This classic club hit from my childhood is a perfect time capsule of hilarity that will liven up any halloween party.
Lyrics to listen for:
I saw the sign and it opened up my eyes
I saw the sign
No one’s gonna drag you up to get into the light where you belong…
But where do you belong?
