#WitchReads Weekly – October 1st!

Aaaah! October! It’s a new month and I’ve got some new, awesome witch reads on the go right now, including a little bit of fiction. I’ve also got a winner of Crystals, Plain & Simple! at the bottom of this post so scroll down if you entered!

When I started this blog I knew books would be a focus of the show because I am an avid reader, and love witchy books especially. I never imagined how much people would come to follow my reviews and want to talk so much about the books I’m reading! I get messages all the time in between reviews asking what I’m reading or for recommendations, so HERE FRIENDS, is what I’m reading!

I often have a few books going at a time, including a monthly Book Club of Shadows pick, books I’m reading for research on upcoming interviewees, and stuff I’m reading just for myself.

I’d love to know what you guys are reading right now too! Leave it in the comments, or use the hashtags #WitchReads or #WitchReadsWeekly to share what you’re reading!

If you’re a goodreads user, feel free to follow me there and recommend great books on witchcraft, feminism, fat politics, and social justice!

Currently Reading / October 1st

I knew I’d love this book the second I had it in my hands! I wasn’t sure if this book really fit in with the vibe of the blog, but honestly reading self-help and non-fiction books all the time gets tiring! Sometimes you need a good story, especially now that it’s October. I’ve only read 4 of the 13 stories, but so far I’m in love! I started with The Cave of the Echoes by Madame Blavatsky of the Theosophical Society, and it was so creepy I had to wait a while before shutting off the lights! No joke. The stories are fun and spooky, one is downright icky, and there is a bit of interesting information about each of the authors before every story – some of which are just as interesting as the fiction, honestly.
I actually haven’t started this one yet, as I’m waiting for it to arrive, but this is the Book Club of Shadows pick for October! The group voted on this very interesting sounding modern book of the dead. I’m really excited. I’m finally starting to feel comfortable (read as: not scared like a baby) with the idea of ghosts and speaking with spirits and there’s no time like October to learn!
Palmistry, Plain & Simple: The Only Book You'll Ever Need
Another Plain & Simple review is coming! Palmistry is probably one of the most interesting ways to practice divination. It’s intimate and a little archaic, which makes it so interesting!

bookgiveaway

This week I decided to giveaway a copy of Crystals, Plain & Simple by Cass and Janie Jackson to help someone new to crystals expand their knowledge! To win, you had to leave a comment about your first crystal in the review post, and my favourite would win a copy of the book! This is the story I chose as my favourite, but they’re all really great. There’s a particularly great story about an aragonite cluster that I love (as that’s one of my faves!).

I think my introduction to crystals is a bit interesting. One night after a concert, I went to a Waffle House. A guy came walking in with a cardboard tray full of pieces of quartz. He said he had mined them and just wanted to pass alone good vibes and for everyone to take one for free. So, I grabbed one and after I left, I looked up to notice a crazy meteor shower. It went on for hours. It was hard to deny the energy that night!! I’ve been hooked ever since. – cmosley
